Hello, World!

This is the second “Hello, World!” post I’ve written for this blog. The first one was posted on August 26th, 2024 and it was an overly formal introductory post where I introduced myself and explained why I created this blog in the first place.

All I have to show for the seven months since publishing that introductory post is an unfinished essay. I’ve come to the realization that I’m not smart enough to finish that essay yet and that I was more focused on appearing smart than actually learning. I essentially fell victim to audience capture without even having an audience. It’s embarrassing to admit that, but it’s the truth.

Now that I’m done deluding myself I’ve decided to restart this blog and try again. My goal for this blog is simple—I want to explore individual topics to learn more about them and then put my thoughts around that topic out in public so that other people can read what I write and correct me when (not if) I get things wrong.

The goal here is to become smarter, not to appear smart, so this time I’m going to treat this blog much more casually, accept that I’m going to be wrong at times, and embrace my mistakes as part of the learning process.

I also need to make writing a habit, so from now on I’m going to spend a bit of time every night writing until doing so becomes a part of my evening routine.

Well, that’s about all I have to say for now. Hopefully my next post on here doesn’t take seven months to write like this one did. Wish me luck!
